One Day is a lovely adaptation of David Nicholls’ 2009 bestselling novel that depicts a relationship between two people through events that happen annually, beginning the day they met, July 15, 1988. Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess are a great pair that display wonderful on screen chemistry. Anne Hathaway plays the young intellectual poet-to-be, Emma, who starts out with a secret crush on Jim Sturgess’ character, Dexter, the party boy who lives life in the fast lane. Throughout the film, we see their friendship develop from an awkward beginning into a passionate affair. Although love stories are not usually my thing, One Day was an incredible exception that left me completely bawling. Some critics say that it did not live up to expectations, however, if you ask me, it was very well done…I know have an entirely new opinion of romantic movies!
