Sophomore Kassra Farah creates an iPhone application

The year is 2035, and the world awaits for Kassra Farah to reveal his latest project to the computer industry. What started out as a goal to make an iPhone application, has now transformed into a revolutionary company. He has developed strong interest in computer programming as well as computer graphics, and anticipates his growth in creating technology for the future.

Farah inherited an interest for computers from his mother and father, as they both work with computers. His father owns a software company, and his mother runs the computer graphics for the company. His desire to produce an iPhone app came from his fascination with computers.

Farah is currently in the process of co-creating a shooter game, called “Dawn of  the Diapers,” that will be downloadable for $0.99 in the app store this June. Although the process to assemble such an app could take up to ten months of tedious work on the computer, Farah has the dedication and patience to complete the product.

“In order to create an app, one must be creative, have computer skills and be able to manage his or her time effectively,” said Farah.

In addition to working on the app, he has also taken on another computer-based hobby. Farah has begun to make his own clothing. By placing his designs on his clothes, he is able to create images that reflect his own individuality and his thoughts.

“Designing clothes is simply an expression of my creativity, and [it] is something more personal [to me],” said Farah.

He considers his father and Steve Jobs to be influential role models. His father personally knew Steve Jobs through his position as an employee of Next, a company that was owned by Jobs.

“Both my dad and Steve Jobs have gone through hardships, but despite these hardships, their resilience is the reason for their success,” said Farah.

His interest in computers has significantly impacted his life. Through his experience, he has become more open-minded to other careers. Most importantly, the experience has made him more mentally mature.

“My experience has made me more independent, since I rely mainly on my own knowledge,” said Farah. “It has also given me an opportunity to manage a business.”

Farah hopes that his passion for computer graphics and designing will allow him to create a computer company of his own. His commitment, persistence and patience will bring him success in the future.
