KYORadio

Written by Mabelle Salloum – Staff Writer

Currently, senior Isaac Froch hosts a live KYORadio broadcast show every Friday during lunch.  KYORadio is a radio station founded by Froch in collaboration with Broadcast I, II and III teacher Eric Gersh in the beginning of Dec. 2013.  With his radio station, Froch hopes to bring the school together as a community through shared interests in music.  Froch is working on adding more broadcast days in addition to the scheduled Friday lunch program.

Once Froch started up the idea, he began building his playlists.  KYORadio aims to appeal to all music preferences of CHS students.  Froch is planning on having more genre-based shows and incorporating new elements, like special event broadcasts and sweepstakes.  Seniors Jared Harris, Basim Shaktah and Nicholas Hayes are responsible for the technical aspects of the show such as mixing the audio once Froch chooses the songs.

“Even though I am the founder and the guy making the calls, I would be back to square one without them,” said Froch.  “I could not be happier with my team.”

Live broadcasts air on MixIr.com but you can also find previous shows from later dates.  To find the latest uploads follow KyoRadio.

KYOTV News

Written by Avery Columbus – Staff Writer

KYOTV News is the official student-operated news show of CHS.  The production airs live every Thursday during lunch and can be streamed on students’ cell phones or laptops.

This year KYOTV News has had many segments such as features on sports players, movie reviews, restaurant reviews, interviews of students participating in plays and recaps of school events.

“People should watch our show because Calabasas is so diverse that we always have something to report,” said junior Sports Reporter Liam Mckanna.

Since everything is completely run by the students, it is the students who decide what to report, what to say and how the show will be presented.  Each week, the news team splits up into multiple groups and each group decides what to do for their various segments.  Because the show is live, they have to practice in order to make sure that every episode runs smoothly.

“The best part is seeing something that I have put a lot of work into come together and be aired live,” said junior Amanda Rose.

KYOTV News hopes to gain more viewers and educate students.  Next Thursday, KYOTV News will be airing its latest episode on kyotv.com.
