Dailey MethodWritten by Kinsey Marker – Staff Writer

The Dailey Method, which is located walking distance from CHS, specializes in a one-hour workout Dailey Methodroutine that targets every aspect of the body. The routine includes ballet barre work, core conditioning, muscle strengthening, yoga and orthopedic exercises.

The studio implements the Lotte Berke method, which is  based on the concept of using one’s own body
weight to isolate specific muscle groups. This practice works on flexibility, injury prevention and strengthening by combining elements of yoga, pilates and stretching. Each class targets different parts of the body by slightly changing up the workout each time.

Instead of the typical sit-ups and crunches routine, instructors at the Dailey Method provide exercises that focus on the “neutral position.” This alignment of the spine creates a healthy balance that promotes  confidence during and after a workout. When the neutral position is achieved, this balance transfers over to one’s personal life creating an increased awareness of daily movement.

Clients of all ages from 14-75 attend classes at the Dailey Method where they receive individualized attention in order to meet their goals. Regardless of one’s fitness goals, anyone can enjoy this routine and leave the center with a balance of the body and mind.

Krav Maga

Written by Julia Shapiro – Staff Writer

Krav Maga, the official defense system of the Israeli Armed forces, has captured the attention of thousands of Americans who wish to get in shape and learn one of the most effective forms of self-defense.  Krav Maga emphasizes instinct movements, practical techniques and realistic training scenarios that can be successfully applied in the real world.Krav Maga

This hand-to-hand combat system is different from traditional martial arts.  The art form does not rely on size or strength; therefore, it is practical for any gender or age group to implement if faced with a dangerous situation. The Krav Maga Worldwide studio in Sherman Oaks teaches participants what to do in times of stress or surprise attacks.

In addition, Krav Maga Worldwide also offers conditioning programs and specialized fitness classes that cannot be found anywhere else. The programs are based on the idea of “fitness meets fighting” where heavy bags, kettle bells and ropes are just a few of the tools used in the workouts that focus on strength dynamics and flexibility. Students will increase muscular strength and endurance through proper technique, repetition and drills.

Krav Maga is a two for one deal. The Krav Maga Worldwide logo states, “Get in shape. Go home safe.
