This season, varsity boys golf has a record of 8-6 in league and a record of 15-7 overall, led by juniors Jake Feldman and Spencer Molnar.
“It was a very up and down season,” said Feldman. “There were times when we thought we could win CIF and other times when we knew that our scores were not cutting it. I look forward to getting back to CIF and bringing home the championship next year.”
This year, the team has had numerous impressive victories, including a huge win at the Coyote Invitational, where the team scored 315 and placed second overall out of 20 teams. The team also showed a great effort against Moorpark and Camarillo high schools, where the team shot their best scores of the year; five players scored in the 70s. Freshman Elias Gross shot an average of 77 points throughout the season, providing the team with a consistent and dominant player.
“My expectation [for next season] is to make the league playoffs and make a run at the league championship,” said Honors United States History, Advanced Placement Government and Economics teacher and head golf coach Lance Novak.
Boys golf strives to go even further in league next season, as the majority of its players are returning. With their high goals and improving talent, they are sure to have an exciting 2014 season.
