Patti Harris – Advisor

Napoleon Hill ‘s philosophy is that “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.” It only took me 25 years in the financial services industry to realize the truth of his statement and that I needed to be working at something that I was passionate about.

I had always dreamed about being an English teacher and so I decided to give it a try. Now, here I am, 10 years later, having the time of my life – teaching! Not only do I teach my students, they teach me, every day.

Last year I had the honor of becoming the advisor for the school newspaper, The Courier. This was the first time I had been involved with a leadership class. It was an amazing experience. Helping my students learn “real world” skills such as delegation, marketing, budgeting, and deadline management has been so fulfilling. The best part is that I get to do it again this year.

Thank you Mr. Hill. You were right. I LOVE what I do and it really does not feel like work.

Alison Roth – Editor-in-Chief

Hey I’m Alison but I also respond to “my toolbox disappeared!” or “why isn’t Photoshop working?!” or “FIX IT!!!!!” Throughout my three years in journalism, I have watched myself grow as a writer, an editor, a leader, and a person. I also learned how to whip up a mean bag of popcorn. I love everything about the journalism class, especially the well-stocked candy jar that sits in the back cabinet. When I’m not sitting in H214 until 6 P.M. working on layout, which is very rare, I enjoy eating ice cream Eggo sandwiches and pretending I have I no idea what a college application essay is. I decide to occasionally come to school for the sole purpose of the journalism class, basically because hell breaks lose when I don’t show up. Kidding, but really, I’m so lucky to have an amazing advisor, a dedicated staff, and a co that perfectly complements me, and I couldn’t ask for a better class. To the next generation of the Courier, may it be the finest yet!

Paige Yamron – Editor-In-Chief

Hi my name is Paige Yamron but my friends call me Pam and you can follow me @Pyeez94. I am editor-in-chief and I have been apart of the journalism family for 3 years now. I basically spend all my time in the “journie room” with my co-editor-in-chief Alison Roth. We balance each other out except for the fact that people actually laugh at my jokes (hahaha) I am a complete INSOMNIAC and I’m usually up 24/7. I can easily say that journalism has been my favorite part of highschool and if you ever need a nickname….I got you (Maha Maddi ).

Peyton Grenley – News Editor

Hey, my name is Peyton! This is my second year in journalism and my first year as the News editor. I love being a member of the journalism staff because I have learned a lot of new skills as well as met so many amazing people. A couple fun facts about me: 1. I am a triplet. 2. My favorite color is purple. 3. I am a cheerleader on the Varsity Squad. 4. Post-its are my best friends; without them, I would not be able to manage all the crazy aspects of my life.
So far, being a part of the staff has been a great experience and I cannot wait to see how our little journalism family can continue to make this paper the best it can be!

Jessy Morner-Ritt – Opinions Editor

Hi I’m Jessy and my favorite section is Opinions, which is such a coincidence since this is my second year as Opinions Editor.  I joined journalism sophomore year because I really liked typing, and typing never got old.  I plan on majoring in Communication in college, preferably political communications, and continue to be a broadcast journalist or anything that allows me to be in politics and continue typing.  In my free time I do not do anything because I seriously lack free time.  Hope you enjoy The Courier and all the hard work the staff puts in.

Lida Dianti – Features Editor

My name is Lida Dianti and I’m Features editor. More importantly, my best friend and co-editor is the reason for my existence. Yvonne Juliet Tarrab, nick-named Nugget, is a five foot package of love. She enjoys long walks….in forever 21 and watches hours of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” She looks like a vanilla cupcake with extra sprinkles. She even loved me during my pre-gym days. On a more serious note, Yvonne is the sweetest and most loving person I have ever met. I love her to death and she is the reason I smile every day.

P.S. Yvonne likes her men tall, dark, and handsome (if anyone is interested.. give her a call at 1-800-FEA-TURES)

Yvonne Tarrab – Features Editor

My name is Yvonne Tarrab, and I am Features Editor. My co (AKA: cocopuff) and best friend is Lida Dianti. She is the funniest person I know, and she enjoys imitating Khloe Kardashian. Lida likes to use the words “negative” and “nunnery”, and she always accentuates the “o” in “nooo” for emphasis. Lida is my sister, and I ask her to drink the milk because “the milk is for the sister to drink”. There is no one else I would rather have as my co.

Maddi Pariser – Sports Editor

Hey! I’m Maddi Pariser. I’m a senior and clearly the better-looking Sports Editor for the Calabasas Courier. Sports is by far of my favorite section in the newspaper. Not only do I love writing and reporting on sports, but I also love playing them. This year I am captain of the varsity girls basketball team. When I get older I would love to sit in the press box with all the chauvinistic smelly old guys and show them a thing or two about sports reporting. I love the CHS journalism class and these past 3 years have been such an amazing experience!

Hey! I’m Megan Meza. I joined The Courier because photography is my passion. I’ve always loved cameras, taking pictures, editing them, and basically everything else about photography. What makes The Courier so special is that I am able to do something I enjoy in an academic way and be able to show it off to my peers. In the future, I would like to take pictures professionally, especially of major events such as concerts or fashion shows. I am so excited to spend this year with the rest of the Courier staff!

Alexa Carlucci – Staff Writer

I’m Alexa Carlucci and I’m really confused about what to write about myself. I could go basic and simply tell you that, “I’m a writer, my favorite section of the paper is Opinions, and I have been writing since I can remember.” Or, I could choose to take a more professional route and say that, “Writing is an unparalleled passion of mine and I take great appreciation in my content as well as my readers.” But, I think I’ll just be blunt and say, “Hey, you should read my articles because honestly…I think we’re a really great match. I can write. You can read. We’re perfect for each other.”

We all profile ourselves on the outside. I could just simply state that I am Yajur Maker, the Junior Class President and everyone would instantly conclude that I am a superstar. I love giving to my community through ASB. I love to write because it allows me to be creative. But, it would be better for you to profile me based on what I think about. And right now, I’m wondering why we always profile others based on their looks and outsides, yet rarely ever take the time to profile each other on the inside?
