Through the 25th of March, Cirque du Soliel is presenting Ovo in Santa Monica. The show literally shines a new light on the mysterious and fantastical world of insects.

The show’s main goal is to be different, which is evident not only in its theme but also in the show’s overall focus. The creators of Ovo wanted the show to center around the movement of the whole show rather than the individual dancing and theatrics of the performers. The creators believed that this approach of the insects- the flying, crawling, etc.- would bring Ovo to life.

Ovo’s set is composed mainly of irregular shapes, which brings about a more natural and specialized atmosphere to the show. Moreover, Ovo has one of the largest flying acts in Cirque du Soliel’s history. The act spans 98 feet in length and 49 feet in width and uses up to 80 cables, which ads to the overall wonder and amazement to the show.

This show is a great way to celebrate the spring season. Despite its distinct features, Ovo still maintains many aspects of a Cirque du Soliel show. It continues to tie music, dancing and various stunts into an entertaining and thrilling experience. Ovo is sure to place a smile on everyone face.
