For anyone who dreams of roller skating back to the ‘50s but lacks a time machine, Moonlight Rollerway is the perfect solution. Located inGlendale, Moonlight Rollerway has been a famous hot spot for over 50 years.

For first-time visitors, it is evident that no detail was overlooked in creating the old fashioned rollerway, which is both aesthetically charming and convincing in its 1950s authenticity. The rollerway has resisted modern renovations and still has the same hardwood floor that was originally installed when it first opened. Rainbow florescent lights and overhead disco balls further complement the groovy atmosphere as visitors skate the night away. Because of its historically accurate decor, the Moonlight Rollerway has been used in the filming of countless television shows, movies and music videos.

The roller staff is exceptionally friendly and enthusiastic. Even the woman behind the rental counter appears as though she was born for the job; without asking, she immediately determines every customer’s size and shoe color preference. Once visitors leave the rental counter and venture onto the skating rink, the party begins. While guests skate, the DJ plays a unique combination of throwback music and modern dance hits.

Many skaters are often surprised by the friendly regulars and the occasional celebrity, as the rink is extremely popular inHollywood. In addition to hosting nightly events, Moonlight Rollerway organizes special themed nights such as a Michael Jackson tribute party on December 22. Moonlight Rollerway is the ideal destination for skaters of all ages and levels of expertise to spend a night immersed in the past. •
