This year’s senior prom will be held at the iconic Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica. This decadent mansion is equipped with five acres of oceanfront property complemented by scenic views and a salty ocean breeze. The senior class will surely enjoy every aspect of this venue from the extravagant decor to the delightful hors d’oeuvres served throughout the evening.
The newspaper mogul, William Randolph Hearst, built the Beach House in the 1920’s for actress Marion Davies. Since then, this glorious home has transformed into a seaside club that beautifully merges historical elements with new amenities. After renovations, the beach house is presently an ideal destination to lounge pool side and gaze at the California sunset.
With a relaxed, yet, lively atmosphere, the Annenberg Beach House is the premier location for seniors to culminate their high school years. Prom is sure to be an unforgettable night under the stars.
Prom will be held on June 2 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets will be on sale from May 7 until June 1 in the Student Store and online. The cost is $80 with ASB and $85 without.
Senior prom. The topic itself makes you cringe with nervous energy and excitement. Perhaps you are that guy who is fed up with explaining to your mom why it is “embarrassing to take your sister.” Well, lucky for you, the Courier has created a list of four sure-fire rules on asking a girl to prom.
1. Go Big or Go Alone
If you are planning to ask your dream girl to Prom, make sure your presentation shows some effort. Paint the question on an immense banner and frame it for all to see; decorate the outside of her car or even use candles to spell out “PROM?” in front of her house.
Tip: Avoid lawns otherwise more than your heart will end up in passionate flames.
2. Make a Public Display of Affection
Presenting a girl with an invitation to prom in front of a large audience is effective for two reasons. 1. Everyone loves attention. Making your dream date feel special is essential. When you make an extraordinary display in front of a crowd, it shows her that she means a lot to you. 2. It is too difficult to say no! Rejection in private hurts. Rejection in public unquestionably scars you for life and forces you to live under a rock for the remainder of your existence. Who wants to be the girl who brings someone that kind of pain? It is now a matter of say “yes” or be considered heartless.
Tip: Avoid public disturbances: i.e. test taking zones and retirement homes.
3. Appeal to Her Sweet Tooth
What better way to show a girl how sweet it would be to go to prom with you than with some delectable goodies? Spell out “PROM?” in chocolate chip or sugar cookies, or hide a romantic letter in the frosting of a cupcake. If you want to go all out, you could even jump out of a cake yourself!
Tip: Hide in cake after baking.
4. Don’t Be Afraid to Get Cheesy!
As any frequent reader of Nicholas Sparks knows, romance is the key to a girl’s heart. Whether you express your love through a hand-written letter or through a classic bouquet of red roses, showing your potential date your more sensitive side will make her feel as special as a heroine in a romance novel. Take your date to the beach for an intimate picnic and leave a “message in a bottle” for her to find. The beautiful scenery and romantic effort will undoubtedly win over your girl’s heart.
Tip: Watch out for sharks or your message in a bottle will become an SOS.
