FYF Recap

FYF+Recap

Finding a song that you love can either bring you to tears or compel you to dance by yourself in your room. You might even go above and beyond and memorize the band’s album and perhaps even their pets’ names. When you find out this exact band is going to be in your town with 10 or more other bands you love, you basically go nuts. You will do anything to see them live, even stand in 100 degree heat with only a bottle of lukewarm water. You will endure the dust and fatigue and soon after face the sore throat for days because when that beloved band comes on, right before your eyes, nothing else matters. Life feels beyond perfect.

FYF, an annual festival held at Los Angeles State Historic Park right next to Chinatown, just celebrated its tenth annual anniversary this past Saturday and Sunday. The festival featured artists including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, STRFKR, Thee Oh Sees, MGMT, The Breeders, FLAG (members of Black Flag), Ty Segall, Solange, My Bloody Valentine, Shlomo, Beach House, Kurt Vile, Mac Demarco, Yo La Tengo, Washed Out and tons more. Stand-up comedians also performed each morning before the bands performed. Food stands served shaved ice, Mexican food, pizza, burgers and lemonade, just as tasty as Coachella-ade. There were also different vendors selling vintage clothes as well as vinyl records and cassettes. FYF was once again a large success, gaining a crowd of over 25,000 people. Cheers to yet another awesome year at FYF!
