Twin sisters juniors Megan and Lauren Chachula give a new meaning to the phrase “dynamic duo”.  Not only do they share the same clothes, they also share a love for music.  Whether the Chachulas are trying out a new harmony in their bedrooms or singing along to a song on the radio, they are always trying to improve their skills.  These girls sing passionately and soulfully, helping each other reach their highest vocal potential.

“We have never been competitive with one another,” said Lauren.  “We know each other’s strengths and make up for each other’s weaknesses when performing duets.”

By the time they were 4-years-old, these girls were working on mastering their harmonies and blending their voices to match each other’s pitch.  They performed in talent shows when they were younger and recently performed a duet at CHS’ Cabaret and the National Anthem at a cancer charity event.  For them, singing allows them to show their emotions through music.

“We love to sing together because when we sing together, we feel like everything else around us dissolves and does not matter in that moment,” said Megan.

The girls find inspiration through emotional songs that connect them.  The sisters hope to sing professionally and pursue their passion as a future career.  They are also planning on writing songs of their own in hopes of inspiring people the way music inspires them.  Stay tuned to see where these soulful sisters perform next.

A day in the life of seniors Cooper and Payton Koch consists of a schedule full of hard work and determination.  These twins have a special connection beyond that of ordinary siblings and have grown up sharing raw talents that have set them apart from their peers.

Cooper and Payton started their theatrical career at the mere age of 5.  Since then, the two have starred in countless plays and musicals including CHS’ productions of West Side Story and A Midsummer’s Nights Dream.  Currently the twins are members of Unstrumental, CHS’ co-ed award-winning a cappella group.  They perform at several events ranging from charity benefits and school functions to competitions against other collegiate groups.

“With Unstrumental we are able to have fun,” said Cooper.  “We can let loose and have an amazing time.”

When the two are not busy singing and making girls swoon, one can find them practicing their spikes on the volleyball court.  To them, volleyball is not only a form of exercise but also an activity where the pair can set aside their musical talents and work hard together as a team.  Since the two are both playing at varsity level, they are able to motivate and cheer for each other. Volleyball has taught them the importance of pushing themselves to the limit and never giving up.

When the Koch’s graduate they plan on pursing their dreams of stardom.  In the future, the boys hope to see themselves on the big screen.

Whether they are practicing basketball or helping each other with homework, sophomores Hannah and Rojeen Sharifi love hanging out and spending countless hours together.  The Sharifis are both in their first season of varsity girls basketball at CHS.  They feel honored to be a part of the varsity team and plan on playing basketball throughout college.

“It is fun having [Rojeen] on the same team as me because we always laugh and have a great time when we are together,” said Hannah.

Both twins know each other’s strengths and weaknesses since they have been playing together their entire lives.  They are always giving each other tips on how to improve their free throws and slam dunks.  However, Hannah and Rojeen do not allow each other to win without a challenge when they play basketball together.  They believe their competitive sides provoke one another and makes each of them better players.

“Of course we fight–all siblings fight–but it doesn’t really last more than a day,” said Rojeen.  “However, we never fight on the court because she is my teammate, and I respect all my teammates.”

These sisters are each other’s biggest supporters on and off the court.  They are truly a team, which is why these talented twins are a force to be reckoned with while they play.  No matter the circumstances, these girls always stand by each other’s side and will continue to do so.
