This year the CHS Future Business Leaders of America team was ranked 9th place overall in the local competition. In addition, they won 4thplace in “Management and Decision Making in the contest and 13 individual students placed in the various categories of the competition. The team had a record number of eligible students that went to the state competition.
“This year’s success was primarily the result of the students’ effort,” said FBLA advisor, Josh Landerer. “These students have realized that the extra work they have put in will ultimately benefit them in the long run.”
This year, the team faced several different changes. Primarily, the team had a new advisor. Furthermore, this year, the team had fewer members than those of previous years. As a result, the team focused more on the quality of the team members rather than the quantity.
Their success was also the result of the club’s overall organization. The club had weekly meetings and each team member prepared months in advanced for the competition by taking numerous practice tests and by improving on their presentations.
“This year, all of our competitors were eager to learn and driven to do well, and all their hard work paid off,” said Lex Ballowe, president of FBLA.
The State Leadership Conference took place from Thursday, April 19 to Friday, April 20. With hard work, dedication and a few obstacles, the FBLA team has proven to be triumphant this year.
