No matter the social group, every senior at CHS looks forward to that special night he or she will cherish forever: prom. Seniors underwent months of preparation – finding dates, buying tuxedos and gowns, ordering corsages and boutonnieres and getting hair and makeup done – as they eagerly awaited the arrival of June 1. After nearly two years of planning and four years of fundraising, the Associated Student Body hosted prom at the Malibu Arches in Malibu from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“There’s something really special about having a vision that comes alive right before your very eyes,” said Senior Class President Aaron Sugano. “Our main goal for prom was to take a venue and completely transform it, and that goal was undoubtedly achieved.”

Attendees were served a variety of dishes including chicken piccata, penne pasta, caesar salad and ice cream sandwiches. After enjoying their meals, students socialized, took pictures in the photo booth and hit the dance floor with their best moves. For couples that wanted to capture the night forever, professional photographers were hired to take the perfect shot. Prom Court consisted of five couples, and the senior class voted Sydney Isaac and Adam Feldman Prom Queen and King.

Everyone at the prom dressed to impress, and the most common themes among the girls were braided hair, white dresses and shine and sparkle. As for the boys, they looked sharp in their tuxedos, wearing classic black with vests and bow ties to match their dates.

Toward the end of the night, students and chaperones alike gathered to watch the senior slide show created by Senior Historian Zoe Gittleson. As memories of freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year were displayed, the graduating class was left with a combined feeling of melancholy and happiness, as students recalled the memories he or she had created during his or her time at CHS.

“Being able to sit down and watch a montage containing pictures from the past four years brought back several memories that I will cherish forever,” said senior Maddie Lieberman. “This dance was definitely more sentimental than other dances because we wanted to enjoy ourselves and end our high school career on a good note.”
