ASB holds annual junior vs. senior girls’ flag football game
The Coyote Cup, CHS’ annual junior vs. senior girls’ flag football game, will take place on March 29 at 6 p.m. The game was previously called Powderpuff but was renamed due to the designation of girls’ flag football as an official CIF sport as of this fall.
ASB Athletics Commissioner Molly Sarto is officiating the game and encourages all girls to sign up, no matter athletic experience.
“Any junior or senior girls can sign up, whether they play sports or not, and we also hold practices before the game so everyone understands what to expect while the game happens,” said Sarto.
The game will have twelve-minute quarters with a running clock and unlimited substitution, according to Athletics Commissioner Noah Shapiro. Each team can have five coaches, with the coaches being junior and senior boys. Food trucks and announcers will also be present to attract people to the event.
“We’re hoping this event runs smoothly as it has in the past, and that everyone who participates has a good time and it’s done safely,” said Sarto.
ASB hopes the event will be enjoyable for both participants and audience members.
“This game is meant to be fun and, of course, to get school spirit appreciation,” said Shapiro.
