Last Friday was CHS’s Spring Pep Rally. This Pep Rally had a unique twist by incorporating a Squid Game’s theme, which was officially called Coyote Games. Additionally, there was an added element in which students were able to advance into the next round if they won a game. This creative approach led to the Pep Rally being a lot more interactive for the students.
“I thought it was super fun to participate even though we didn’t make it that far, I also liked the switch from one-round games to multiple rounds,” says Judah Illouz, a Freshman participant in the games.
The Pep Rally featured a series of games that involved student engagement. The games that were included were “Red Light Green Light”, “Tug of War”, “Mingle”, and “Glass Boxes”.
“I like the new pep rally theme and how it wasn’t just based on- something that we haven’t done before, and I like how the people competing in the game really had something to fight for,” says Asher Katz, Pep Commissioner.
Previous pep rallies followed a formula of stand-alone games in between dances and cheerleading. This pep rally had students move on from one round to the next. This new aspect of advancement created more excitement and involvement for everyone along with an element of novelty, making the pep rally more memorable.
“The Pep rally was so much more fun and interesting than the other ones, I really enjoyed the unique twist that they had with the Squid Games aspect,” said Judson Mussell, CHSl freshman.
As Calabasas High School’s ASB program pushes to create new exciting activities with school events, this year’s Spring Pep Rally set a new standard for future events. The success of squid-game-themed challenges proved that a new and engaging approach can bring school spirit and the student body closer together.
“I enjoyed this pep rally more, honestly just because the students enjoy them more and we feed off of their energy,” said Katz.
