It’s that time of year again. Students at Calabasas High School are competing through campaigns to fill the six open spots in ASB for the 2025-2026 school year. They are running for ASB President, Vice President, student board representative, and treasurer/secretary.
The ASB president’s job is to coordinate meetings for the ASB throughout the year, supervise all current ASB events, and oversee all other roles. This year, the sole candidate for ASB president is Michael Bronshteyn. He has had three years of experience in ASB. For this campaign, Bronshteyn has been hanging flyers around campus.
“[As president], you coordinate all the meetings for the whole year, for the whole class, and you supervise all the events that happen,” said Bronshteyn.
The ASB Vice President has many responsibilities, including running student senate meetings where CHS students can attend and provide feedback to the school. The ASB Vice President ensures that every student’s voice is heard while working alongside the president and the rest of ASB to keep every event and decision running smoothly. Gia Parker and Ella Kingsrud are running for ASB VP and have begun their campaigns by posting on social media and hanging up fliers around.

“I’m definitely confident with my campaign, and I’m excited to see the results,” said Parker.
Unlike other positions, the ASB student board representative gets to have a voice in important meetings alongside some of the most influential voices in LVUSD. The position serves as a connection between the district and the student body. Leighton Westerberg is running for this position with no competition. Westerberg has been in this role before, and this is her third year in ASB.
“I speak for the students and I bring representation during district meetings and on district councils,” said Westerberg.
From taking notes to dealing with all things financial, the ASB Treasurer/ Secretary looks after where school funds are going and organizes meeting minutes. Campaigns from Sasha Hosseini and Ethan Shapiro have both begun to vie for the next ASB Treasurer/Secretary position by spending a lot of time organizing posters and social media posts.
“My favorite idea for a poster was a matcha poster because I think a lot of people love matcha,” said Hosseini.
Every grade, aside from seniors at Calabasas High School, will be able to vote for their next ASB officers on Thursday, May 1st. Results will be announced on Friday, May 2nd.
