A night filled with long glittery dresses, ironed suits, and lots of flashy photos is almost here. On May 31st, CHS Seniors will congregate for one of the last blowouts of their high school careers, for a “Night of Lights” as described by Senior Officer Devyn Anderson.
Prom this year will have an infectiously groovy color theme of purple and gold. Food, dancing, and fun all under the purple LED lights and gold candles against beautiful brutalist architecture.
“It was kind of supposed to be Tangled themed at first, but now it’s just kind of morphed into those two colors [purple and gold],” says Anderson.
With new restrictions placed on location to stay more local, much consideration and debate was put into the selection of this year’s venue.
“You used to be able to have a large pick of venues, because you used to be able to go downtown. But this year, we’re only allowed to do venues in a certain proximity [to the school],” says Anderson.
Ultimately chosen was the Skirball Cultural Center tucked into the Santa Monica mountains just out of the San Fernando valley and just ahead of the Bel-Air Crest into the stucco-sprawling eternity of Westwood, Hollywood, and Los Angeles proper.
However, the Skirball really isn’t that far at all.
“Skirball is a lot closer than people think, because it’s pretty much like all freeways getting there,” says Anderson. “You could probably get there in like twenty…twenty-five minutes, with traffic.
CHS 2025 Senior Prom tickets run for $135 with ASB and $150 without. Tickets are on sale till May 23rd.
“I’m super excited for this year,” said senior Annalise Cameron, “I’m excited to go shopping for a dress and see the beautiful venue, and see all my wonderful friends.”
