Invitations:
There is no better way to get your friends excited for your Chinese New Year party than creating one-of-a-kind invitations. Purchase Asian-inspired take-out boxes and hand-deliver to them to each of your guests. You can buy these in bulk anywhere, at places such as Michaels and online retailers. Stuff each box a third of the way with dry rice to help maintain the shape of the box and to add an authentic Chinese feel. Then, stand a card on top of the rice listing all the details of the event. You can even place stickers of dragons and other Chinese symbols to decorate the card; go all out!
Food:
Whether you choose to buy take-out food or cook your own Asian treats, having the essentials is important. Egg rolls, chow mein noodles, fried rice and dumplings are just a few of these must-have Chinese delicacies. To really amp up the party, have guests make their own fortune cookies. Of course, you have to make them prior to the party, but they can make their own fortunes and place them inside the cookie. It will be a fun treat for them and the guests who will open them. Also, be sure to have mochi to in order to top off this delicious meal.
Games:
There is no better way to enter the Chinese New Year than with a game to spice the night up. The perfect Chinese New Year game, pin the tail on the dragon, takes a twist on the classic pin the tail on the donkey game while celebrating the good fortune that will follow you into the next year. Blind fold your guests and watch them as they stumble to find the correct placement for the tail. Everyone is sure to laugh as he or she watches him or hers friends and family accidentally place the tail on the nose instead!
