With new seasons of Outer Banks, Squid Game, Heartstopper, and Ginny & Georgia, Netflix is turning up the excitement.
Season four of Outer Banks will be released in two five-episode parts. Part one was released on October 10th, followed by part two, which will come out on November 7, 2024. Netflix has not yet made an official release date for Ginny and Georgia, but it is expected to come out in the Spring of 2025. The highly anticipated teen romance series, season 3 of Heartstopper, lands on October 3. Season 2 of Squid Game will be released on December 26, 2024.
The protagonist, Seong Gi-hun, will still appear in the next season of Squid Game. He will embark on a quest to take down the organization behind the Squid Game, requiring him to re-enter the life-threatening competition.
“I hope [Seong Gi-hun] does something cool in season two,” said Freshman Tripp Bery.
Actors like Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, and Park Gyu-young will also have important roles in the new season. New games will also be introduced, making the upcoming season more intense than the first.
Outer Banks season four will continue the treasure hunts that define the show, with the Pogues taking on a new, high-stakes mission to find Blackbeard’s treasure. This new treasure hunt promises even more danger, with intense rivalries, fights, and attempted murders. This season is expected to focus heavily on JJ, as he has a personal connection in this treasure hunt. Additionally, watchers can anticipate extended tensions and more romantic relationships among the Pogue couples.
“In the new season of Outer Banks, I predict that the pogues will lose all of their money, and JJ and Kiara will start dating,” said Sophomore Hallie Liberman.
Spring 2025 may be far away, but season 3 of Ginny and Georgia will still deliver what viewers expect from the show. Production is scheduled to finish later this year. The release was delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes and some behind-the-scenes changes, including a new showrunner, Sarah Glinski. The third season will pick up where Season 2 left off, with Georgia being arrested for the murder of Tom Fuller at her wedding, setting up major emotional and legal consequences for both Ginny and Austin. Austin, who witnessed the murder, is expected to struggle with the trauma.
“In the new season, I predict that Georgia will be in jail, and her daughter (Ginny) will investigate the case,” said junior Katie Perez.
Netflix officially renewed Heartstopper for Seasons 2 and 3 in May 2022. This was announced after the massive success of the first season. Season 3 is likely to continue adapting from the graphic novels by Alice Oseman. In the graphic novels, this stage of the story focuses more on mental health issues, particularly around Charlie’s struggles, as well as Nick’s continued journey with coming out. Fans expect Season 3 to take on these sensitive topics with care as they are meaningful to many people.
“I’m excited to see how Nick and Charlie’s relationship evolves and what their future is together,” said Freshman Chantal Massachi.
