Make sure to read about the other candidates:
If I were to deliver a speech similar to the one Republican candidate Rick Perry delivered at the start of November, odds are I would not be elected president of anything, let alone theUnited States. Despite my family tree teaming with Republicans and my grandfather’s endless discussions about the latest political issues, I have not jumped on the bandwagon for the governor ofTexas. I doubt that I am alone in this decision as many Americans cannot possibly support a candidate who has no idea that the Revolutionary War was fought in the eighteenth century, not the sixteenth. This incorrect fact should be a large indicator that not only was sixth grade history a challenge for Perry, but he truly is not the man to lead our country during a time of economic crisis and hardship.
The issue of immigration has always concernedAmerica, and withMexicoas my number one travel destination, I am quite interested in the issue. To shut down the border entirely, as Perry proposes, completely diminishes American values of acceptance and opportunity. Perry’s plan to spread the National Guard along the Mexican border is not only a waste of
money and resources, it fails to address the problem of illegal immigrants currently residing in the U.S. Apparently, Perry is unaware that our nation is in the midst of an economic catastrophe. Although sending the military in with big guns will doubtlessly be an effective way to deter unwanted immigrants, it is financially impossible.
On the top of Perry’s to-do list is the reconstruction ofWashingtonD.C.He proposes ridding Congress of all its current members and building an entirely new Citizen Congress. As wonderful as it is to followLincoln’s “by the people, for the people” literally, I highly doubtLincolnintended for our entire democratic system to be demolished under this pathetic attempt at leadership.
Maybe Perry’s campaign would regain some dignity if he could simply debate against other candidates. When Perry is not stuttering throughout a debate, he is forgetting elements of his own campaign strategy. The irony did not slip by the public that Perry only remembered he would cut education funding, and forgot the other two.
As entertaining as Perry’s inaugural speech would be, the SNL comedians would be unemployed as no one makes a fool out of Perry better than himself. •
