Imagine it is a crisp, windy day in October. Out the window, orange and yellow leaves are falling from the trees. There are football games, carnivals, pumpkin patches, and horror nights, among other events. Fall is the season that I look forward to most.
Fall has the best weather, not too cold, but not too hot. It can be a little chilly, with some rainy days sprinkled throughout the season. It is known as “sweater weather.” It is the best weather all year round. Summer is too humid and hot, winter gets too cold, and spring is dry, as well as allergy season.
Sophomore Nessah Goldberg from CHS said, “I think fall is the best season and it’s not too cold or too hot. It’s very aesthetic.”
As a high school student, I look forward to high school football games in the fall all year round. Almost every Friday after school, I go to my friend’s houses and get ready with all of them. At the football games, I get the opportunity to be social and show school spirit.
There are also several carnivals featuring fun rides, delicious food, and games to play. Some rides I like are the zipper, the ferris wheel, and the slides.
Pumpkin patches are fun places to take cute photos and be with friends/family. There is one at Pierce College in Woodland Hills that happens every year. It is open from October 1st to the 31st, and the times vary throughout the week. Not only is it a pumpkin patch, but it also has mechanical rides, obstacle courses, blow-up slides, and even a petting zoo.
Theme parks like Universal Studios and Six Flags host Halloween events from August to November. There are haunted houses that guests can walk through. They have special effects like bad smells and getting splashed with water. They also have mazes and scare zones, where actors dress up as different horrifying characters and jump out to scare people. This year at Universal Studios, some of the new haunted houses include Friday the 13th, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Terrifier. This is one of my favorite activities during the Fall season.
And of course, there is Halloween. One of the best holidays of the year. It comes from an ancient festival called Samahin, where people wore costumes to keep ghosts away. Traditions include getting to dress up in costumes, trick or treating, going to Halloween parties, and more.
There are also so many fall-based activities to do with friends! This year, I am doing burr baskets with my friends. It’s like the fall version of Secret Santa. Everyone writes their name down on a piece of paper and puts it in a hat. We mix up the papers, and go around to pull one out, and whoever’s name we get is who we make the burr basket for. Then, each person creates a basket with fun things that person would like. Some ideas are blankets, stuffed animals, makeup, and perfume/cologne.
Additionally, Starbucks comes out with a fall menu every year. This year, it was released on August 26th. It is very popular and includes pumpkin-flavored items like muffins, cold foam, lattes, and more. Personally, I love the pumpkin chai and pumpkin loaf.
CHS sophomore Anais Kak, states, “I love fall, I think it’s the best season, it’s peak back to school season. Everything in fall is perfect.”
Although some people may say winter is the best season because of the holidays, or summer because we have no school, I think fall ultimately has the best qualities.
