1. A healthy Robert Griffin III?
Griffin III could finally be recovered from his devastating ACL injury that occurred two seasons ago. However, the injury-prone Griffin III dislocated his ankle in a recent win over the Jaguars. The Redskins hope that he can return in 6-8 weeks. Will he ever be the player he was in 2012?
2. Who will take MVP?
With steep competition, there are many possibilities for the coveted MVP award, including Peyton Manning (the reigning titleholder), Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. The odds makers in Las Vegas have these quarterbacks leading the league, but look out for dark horses like Tom Brady and Andrew Luck, as they are solid quarterbacks too.
3. Thursday night football is now on CBS
In addition to Sunday Night on NBC, there is now more football on primetime television. CBS had no hesitation to move their top-rated TV show The Big Bang Theory to make room for NFL on Thursdays.
4. “Johnny Football”
LeBron who? Johnny Manziel, so well known by his nickname “Johnny Football” that it has become a registered trademark, is poised to make his NFL debut and take over Cleveland. He broke numerous NCAA and SEC records playing for the Texas A&M Aggies, and signed a deal with Nike earlier this year featuring his own line. Do you believe the hype?
5. Hopefully…probably…most likely a better Super Bowl!
Last year’s infamously boring Super Bowl, in which the Seattle Seahawks dominated the Denver Broncos 43-8, will hopefully be redeemed this year. Expect a great halftime show, as the NFL has narrowed down its list of potential performers to Rihanna, Katy Perry and Coldplay.
