Four days ago, Calabasas Athletics’s Instagram announced the resignation of Calabasas girls’ volleyball head coach Taytum Reckleff. This is the second time a Calabasas head coach has resigned in the past week, following girls’ basketball head coach Destiny Melton.
“Coach Reckleff led the teams through a dynamic and challenging year, and her contributions to the program were greatly valued by players, staff, and the Calabasas community,” said Calabasas Athletics.
In Reckleff’s single year with the Coyotes, indoor volleyball went 2-18, while beach volleyball’s season has yet to start. Although they are without a coach, beach volleyball does plan to start their season as usual.
CHS has started looking for someone new to help guide girls’ indoor and beach volleyball through the 2025-2026 school year and beyond. Although the program has seen some substantial turnaround in recent years, there are those who still hold lots of faith in girls’ volleyball.
“I just hope any future coaches come in with so much patience,” said senior girls’ volleyball player Emma Baldecchi. “Because, even from what I know of the girls and what I saw as a senior on varsity, there’s so much potential in this program, but it’s not being brought out properly. I hope whoever coaches next year is open and patient and not demanding too much out of a program that historically hasn’t fared so well.”
