On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, LeBron James became the first player in NBA history to reach 50,000 career points, including the regular season and postseason.

James reached the milestone when the Los Angeles Lakers played against the New Orleans Pelicans. A pass from the newly acquired Luka Doncic sent the ball from the right wing to a wide-open James on the left wing, where he took a three-point shot to total 50,002 career NBA points. James scored 34 points that night, reaching a career total of 50,053.

That game extended his regular-season record to 41,871 points. He also is the leader in all-time postseason points with 8,162. James’s scoring record was achieved in his 22nd season, and he tied with Vince Carter for the most seasons ever played.

James was also named Western Conference player of the month, becoming the oldest player to achieve the award at 40. He is currently fifth in MVP voting, while the Lakers are second in the Western Conference with a record of 39-21.

“It’s a hell of a lot of points, and I’m super blessed to be able to put that many points up in the best league in the world with the best players in the world over my career,” said James.
