On Wednesday, Oct. 30,Peer Support held an anti-bullying assembly for all CHS students during support. Peer Support is a program run by students that focus on providing a place for other students at CHS who need support and guidance. The program offers peer counseling, presentations, community outreach programs, school wide campaigns and peaceful conflict resolutions. Due to the fact that Peer Support is run by students, the group focuses on creating an environment in which students who attend Peer Support can effectively connect with their Peer Support student counselors. For those who desire to meet with Peer Support, Peer Support is always available everyday except Tuesdays during lunch in the H117. There are also ways to connect Peer Support out of school- check the peer support page on Facebook for further details.
At the Peer Support anti-bullying assembly, the program provided students with a presentation powerpoint that showcased what Peer Support is all about, and how it helps prevent bullying. In addition, senior Katie Thibodeau, sophomore Jonah Camberg, English teacher and journalism advisor Patti Harris and math teacher Michael Yeung spoke about their experience with bullying and how to prevent it.
“I think the assembly went really well,” said Peer Support president Spencer Hurwitz. “All the speakers really connected with the students which helped them understand and know more about bullying.”
