Ray Pearl
As an active participant in the district activities, Ray Pearl wants to be elected as part of the Las Virgenes Unified School District board to ensure good quality education for students. He is also a member of the Together Helping Education Foundation and has experience dealing with finances. Pearl believes in budgeting the district money well, continuing to implement Common Core and increasing the use of technology to promote new century learning skills. Pearl believes efforts from the community will help the district with finances.
Angela Cutbill
Having worked with the school district for 17 years, Cutbill gained a lot of experience in the education field. Cutbill witnessed how the district works through her children attendance at LVUSD schools, her job on the Parent Teacher Association and government jobs. She wants to cultivate students to be competent in the globally competitive world. Cutbill also wants to maintain the “high quality” education in the district, build stronger connections within LVUSD and promote the use of 21st century skills, namely technology, into classrooms0m.
Dallas Lawrence
Lawrence wants to work within the community to integrate the Common Core program successfully into LVUSD schools. As a father of children who attend schools in LVUSD, Lawrence believes that Common Core will benefit the students on an academic level. He differs from the other candidates because he wants to implement international curriculum that focuses on the deficit. Associated international, federal, state and local education policy experience, Lawrence wants to partake in the making and the promoting of district-wide policies.
Mary Jo Ammon
To reduce declining enrollment in the district, Ammon wants to keep programs such as the International Baccalaureate at Agoura High School and the Academy of Media and Entertainment at CHS to promote the enrichment of the learning experience. She wants to work with T.H.E. Foundation in order to ensure that the district has ample funds. She is a parent and a leader and has been in the district for 20 years. Having established relationships with community leaders, Ammon strives to use these experiences to make her campaign a success.
Leslie Stein
Stein believes that working collaboratively will affect how students work in the economic world. Being a part of the school board, Stein hopes to provide aid in the financial crisis and wants to expand to other partnerships in order to promote LVUSD. She wants students to learn across the curriculum and focus on innovation. Stein wants students to learn the skills of creativity and innovation while promoting the use of technology. In addition, she wants to reduce class sizes and keep certain programs for students.
