Stepenosky announces new principal recommendation for 2022-23
In a community message posted on March 17, Superintendent Dan Stepenosky announced the recommendation of Ms. Amy Aviv to replace CHS Principal Sara Exner for the 2022-2023 school year. Aviv will begin her role in July of this year, if approved by the Board of Education.
An eighteen person panel, including CHS students and staff, interviewed Aviv and other candidates for the position last week. Aviv was chosen as the top recommendation.
“I was impressed with Ms. Aviv’s responses to the panel’s questions,” said Andrea Camacho, CHS math teacher and member of the panel. “She has great enthusiasm and truly wants to be a high school principal. She brings with her a tremendous amount of experience. I’m looking forward to working with her next year.”
Aviv has worked as Assistant Principal at both Portola Middle School and Taft Charter High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). In addition, she served as District Coordinator of secondary mathematics for LAUSD’s District Northwest.
“In the coming weeks, [LVUSD] will work to schedule time with Ms. Aviv to meet with the CHS staff, students and PFC leadership and attend Calabasas High School events,” said Stepenosky in his community announcement. “Principal Exner will be in touch with more details and specifics regarding dates and times when we will be able to introduce Ms. Aviv to the CHS community.”
