Las Virgenes Independent School
In the fall of 2021, LVUSD will be launching a new program, transitioning the Virtual Academy into the Las Virgenes Independent School for K-12 students.
Virtual Academy began during the current school year in response to Covid-19. It allows LVUSD students to continue their education virtually in the event that the LVUSD district resumes in-person academics. As the 2021-2022 school year is approaching, LVUSD has decided to permanently implement an alternative virtual school for LVUSD students who have specific needs.
“The program includes extended learning opportunities to support students’ academic and extracurricular interests,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dan Stepenosky in an email to parents. “Students will work at their own pace utilizing APEX learning, FUEL Education, and UC Scout.”
The Las Virgenes Independent School will provide a learning program for students who struggle in a traditional learning setting, students who seek a homeschooling option, students who work in the entertainment industry, students who travel extensively and students who are professional athletes.
“Students in Las Virgenes Independent School receive bi-monthly teacher in-person or virtual check-ins, 1:1 attention and self-paced coursework with personalized plans,” said Dr. Stepenosky in an email to parents. “In addition, students will attend bi-montly teacher in-person or virtual check-ins and additional counseling, support services and enrichment.”
