In a series of emails to the student body, Assistant Principal Tyler Lee announced the new ID scanners have been postponed from usage until further notice.
The original plan was to start permanently scanning IDs on February 5. The off-campus stickers would no longer be acceptable at the end of the five-week period. The ID scanners have been used as a trial run for the last couple of weeks, still allowing for stickers if needed. Today, students received an email dismissing the official removal of off-campus stickers due to many problems.
“We are working out the logistics with the scanners. Currently, we are having a problem with the WI-FI for the scanners at the trail gate, so we have to boost the signal,” said Lee.
The off-campus stickers will be distributed for the next five weeks, anticipating the time for the WI-FI to be updated and the scanners to remain out of use until further notification.
“We are going to have stickers as backups, but also for when it rains because the scanners are not waterproof,” said Lee.
Lee indicated the hope that the difficulties with the scanners would be resolved by the end of February.
