Coyotes advance to CIF playoffs
By beating Westlake last Friday, the Coyotes sealed their spot in the 2022 CIF Southern Section playoffs for the first time since 2019. CHS is ranked number four in the league with a record of 2-3, winning six out of ten games overall.
Heading into Friday’s first home playoff game against La Habra, the team is optimistic.
“[We’ve had] just a good week of preparation,” said Head Coach Cary Harris. “The guys are excited. They are energetic, obviously, making the playoffs. It has been a few years since we’ve been there.”
To prepare for the big game, the team has upped its tempo at practices, since the team had a slow start to some of its recent games, according to Harris. La Habra is known for its aggressive running game, so the Coyotes are particularly thankful their last few opponents helped the defense learn how to stop strong runs.
Harris is confident that the team’s hard work will pay off on Friday. Even without knowing the game’s outcome, Harris is proud of how far his team has come.
“I think from last year us going 0-5 in league to this year winning two out of our five league games is a step in the right direction,” said Harris.
