“I quickly made my way over to the stage at the beginning of lunch. The Associated Student Body had just made an announcement saying, ‘Max Green, please report to the stage.’ There were four buckets on the stage for him, and under each bucket were balloons with stickers that said ‘Vice.’ I was standing with a question mark sign, waiting for his response. After the balloons were revealed, so was my proposal. With friends clapping and cheering from every direction, I gave Max a hug. He is one of my best friends, and I am so happy that we are going together!”-Sophia Terango FRESHMAN
“I led Rusty on a scavenger hunt with a Vice proposal waiting at the finish line. For the first clue, I left a fish bowl with candy fish in his first period class. There was a note attached that read ‘Of all the fish in the sea, I chose you. Use this to find the next clue.’ This directed him to a friend with another clue and the letter ‘V.’ He then had to follow the clues to the next person, who had the next letter. This pattern continued until the clues spelled out ‘Vice?’ Rusty’s final clue took him to his locker. When I met him there, a flower and big question mark awaited him.” –Sarah Whitman SOPHOMORE
“I baked Colin a batch of his favorite strawberry shortcake whoopie pies. After school, we headed over to the Santa Monica Pier. The pier was the ideal place for a Vice proposal, because Colin and I always spend time together there. As we walked over to the Dip’n Dots kiosk, he had no idea I had asked an employee beforehand to give the platter of whoopie pies to him. When he was given the pies, he saw that on the top of each treat was one letter of the word ‘Vice?’ We both laughed and spent the rest of our lovely Valentines Day together by the seaside.” –Emily Simon JUNIOR
“I had gone to the baseball field during sixth period to decorate Taylor’s car. With my window markers, I proceeded to write, ‘I have a question for you’ on the back window. I also decorated his car with red question marks and hearts. After, I made my way over to his house along with many colorful balloons. I placed four balloons that formed the word ‘Vice’ in his hallway. When he passed the hallway and went into his room, my vice proposal was complete as Taylor was greeted by me, a bouquet of balloons with question marks on them and a smile.”-Lauren Barash SENIOR
On Sunday, February 12, 2012, I sent my boyfriend Rence on a scavenger hunt in which I began by having my friends deliver a locked box to him. Each clue was hidden in an envelope containing a picture of his next destination as well as a hint. The Paris-themed box read, ‘Come find the key. –N.’ He also got an envelope with a picture of his first location, which was Coffee Bean. At Coffee Bean a friend of mine who works there gave him a drink and the next clue. From there he was told to go to the top of Stunt Road, where he would receive his next clue. Then he went to the Malibu Creek State Park. Afterwards, the clues pointed toward Pepperdine University. At Pepperdine he was given an address and directions to follow me friend’s car. When he arrived at his final destination, he was led down a path that took him to the beach. He was then able to find me and get the key. As he opened the box, inside there was a stained glass project that I had made. The glass spelled out, “VICE?” He said, “yes!” The whole experience was a lot of fun for both of us and our friends enjoyed being a part of the proposal as well. – Natalie Kuhny JUNIOR
