Berklee College of Music
Undecided
After four years of complete devotion to the CHS music program, Caitie Butterworth will be taking the next step in her musical career by attending Berklee College of Music. Beginning her career in the CHS music program as a freshman with the ability to play only two instruments, Butterworth is heading to college as a master of nine: alto saxophone, bari saxophone, tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, flute, guitar and bass clarinet. She has taken five different music classes at CHS, traveled to incredible venues and festivals all over the country to perform and has found her prominent high school memories to exist in the wide expansion of her musical career.
Although she will enter Berklee College of Music with an undeclared major, Butterworth is leaning toward the field of Musical Therapy. She has found that music has spoken to her and her peers better than anything else, as she has found all genres of music to inspire her creatively.
“Music is my life, and whatever I end up doing, Berklee is going to make me exponentially better at it,” said Butterworth. “I want to be able to reach people and help people through music,” said Butterworth.
Loved by all of the CHS musicians, Butterworth is a role model who will continue to inspire those who hear her music. Wherever she goes, she will be playing any and every instrument the world has to offer.
“Four years ago I never would have thought I’d end up doing all [that] I’m doing with music,” said Butterworth. “I’m happy as long as I’m playing music.”
