Physical Therapy
After being an essential part of the most successful season in the history of CHS girls basketball, Megan Charles has committed to Chapman University to continue her career in athletics, majoring in physical therapy and athletic training and playing on Chapman’s women’s basketball team.
“I was always interested in sports medicine,” said Charles. “Athletic trainers get to work with athletes to help with injuries and injury prevention, and I know how important my job will be.”
Charles first understood the significance of physical therapy after tearing her ACL at the end of her sophomore season, where she had to take almost a year to fully recover. However, despite this set-back, Charles came back stronger her senior year to win a spot on the first-team in the California Interscholastic Federation and to become runner-up for the Most Valuable Player award for the Marmonte League.
“I love watching the countless hours of hard work and practice pay off in games,” said Charles. “We have a great team dynamic, and I know I can rely on all of my teammates. I have made friendships here that will last forever.”
Her leadership as a team captain and her consistent three-point shooting helped break a new record and take the team to the CIF championship and the second round of state playoffs.
Charles is hopeful about the future and looks forward to the changes that will come in the fall.
