Junior Megan Richardson views the world through eyes different than the average teenager. Items turn into detailed images, and people turn into dynamic, beautiful and abstract portraits. Not only does Richardson have raw talent, she has an eye and style that stands out from the crowd.
“I’d have to say my biggest inspirations would have to be music, the human form and also nature,” said Richardson. “I also like to take elements from other artists and try to manipulate them. For example, I’ll look at some of Monet’s pieces and I’ll get inspired just from the way he makes light bounce off the water and lily pads he paints. Observing great art makes me create art myself.”
Richardson’s dedication to art shows in her craft. This young artist’s work ranges from sketched still lifes for class to detailed depictions of her favorite musicians. Her art can be viewed on her Instagram, @bananamiddrift, or on her blog www.dioxazine-slug.tubmlr.com where she uploads pieces often.
“Succeeding in the art world isn’t just about skill, it unfortunately has a lot to do with who you know and what connections you have,” said Richardson. “ But no matter what field or career I go into, art will always be a large and important part of my life.”
