While some travel to New York in hopes to fulfill their lifelong dreams of achieving stardom, others get the big apple fever from love. As students from the CHS theater department embarked on their journey to New York City, senior Daniel Dabach had only one thing on his mind- how to ask his girlfriend, junior Mollie Rubin, to prom. Dabach knew exactly how he wanted to ask Rubin upon his arrival to Times Square.
“It was big, it was cool, and it was everything she and I had wanted,” said Dabach. “I felt accomplished and could not wipe the smile off my face after the proposal.”
Seeing an electronic billboard, Rubin, Dabach and friends all thought the screen was a great way to show everyone at Times Square how much fun they were having. They all ran into American Eagle to see if they could post a picture on the screen. When Rubin walked outside of the store, she expected to see the picture she sent in with all of her friends, but instead she was surprised with a picture of Dabach holding a prom sign with a message saying “Mollie, Prom? – Daniel Dabach.” This couple left their mark on the big apple, and certainly went out with a bang!
“Every girl looks forward to the way they are going to me asked to prom, and the way he asked me to prom is something I will never forget,” said Rubin. “If I ever go back to New York I will remember the proposal- thank you Daniel for everything you do for me!”
