Freshman Brandon Solursh submerges in the ocean to experience another incredible scuba adventure.  Only allotting a finite amount of oxygen from his tank, Solursh makes sure to capture everything the ocean has to offer before his time is up.

From exploring a sunken ship and its hidden treasures at night to swimming through a school of wild manta rays, Solursh loves to discover the unknown in the ocean.

“I have always loved the ocean and the scenery that comes with it,” said Solursh.  “Scuba diving feels like you’re entering a world full of indescribable beauty.”

About once a month, Solursh plunges into the ocean and reaches as far as 100 feet below the surface.  Having dived in exotic locations such as La Paz, Cozumel and other places in Mexico, each scuba experience carries its own unforgettable memory.  From sea lions to lobsters, Solursh has seen thousands of spectacular creatures.  He enjoys night diving where he can see a more diverse group of animals such as eels, sharks and manta rays.

“Before and during each scuba dive, the feeling of excitement always returns,” said Solursh.  “When I am wreck diving, everything around me is so astonishing. I can’t help but feel amazed and be left in awe.”

With a current rescue and advanced scuba degree, Solursh hopes to receive his master divers degree in the near future.  In order to do so, Solursh will have had to earn his night diver, wreck diver and enriched air certified diver degrees.  The ability to improve gives Solursh the tools to push the boundaries of what he can do underwater.

Continuing to pursue his passion for scuba diving, the ocean and exploration, Solursh plans to take a trip to Africa this summer.  This adventure is the first in his pursuit of diving in all four oceans.  As Solursh improves as a scuba diver, he is eager to experience more remarkable dives, including his first one in the Indian Ocean.
