Q: How long have you been playing baseball?
I started playing when I was four years old at Sunrise Little League. The league was made up of all five-year-olds but I really wanted to start playing, so they made an exception to the rules.
Q: What is your favorite part about baseball?
My favorite part of the game is the internal, quiet mind-set players have during the game. Unlike football and basketball where large crowds cheer for the players to help motivate them during the game, baseball is more of a quiet confidence where players run on the field and let their abilities speak.
Q: What is your favorite memory of CHS baseball?
During my sophomore year I was called up to varsity to play on a team of upperclassmen. Although at first it was intimidating, I had the best time with my teammates who became like older brothers to me.
Q: Why did you choose to attend this particular college?
I went on an official visit where I was able to meet all of the coaches, some of the players and tour the campus for two days. I immediately fell in love and knew this was a place I could see myself playing at. But the one aspect that definitely made my decision was the coaching staff. The coaches are a bunch of great guys who care for their players and have knowledge about the game.
Ben Vizvary- Emory University class of 2016
Q: How long have you been playing baseball?
I have been playing baseball competitively since I was about six, but I began playing catch with my dad when I was around four or five.
Q: What is your favorite part about baseball?
My favorite part about baseball is the satisfaction you get after making a great play in the field or when you hit a winning run. You know that everyone in the stands is cheering for you and there’s this feeling that you can only really get from playing in the game. It puts a smile on my face every time it happens.
Q: What is your favorite memory of CHS baseball?
My favorite memories are off the field moments. When all of the guys go to dinner after a game or we meet up on the weekends to hangout I am constantly reminded of why I love high school baseball. The bond that I have with these guys is something that definitely takes more than a few days on the field. They’re my boys and its going to be weird playing without them next year.
Q: Why did you choose to attend this particular college?
A dream of mine was to play college baseball so I decided to go to a showcase over summer that Emory was also attending. I knew that they had extremely good academics so I decided to send them an e-mail about who I was and they liked me when they saw me play. It was a perfect match from the start.
