NBA Drafts

On June 27 the 2013 NBA draft will take place.  While the last six years of NBA drafts have produced major superstars including Kevin Durrant, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin, there does not seem to be any standout players in this year’s draft class.  The University of Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel is currently seen as the probable first pick, but many sport experts argue that he is not the best college center declared for the draft and that his thin frame and small stature for a center foreshadow difficulty for him on the NBA playing level.  Additionally, many players, such as Michigan University’s Glenn Robinson III, who would have been projected as first round picks, are choosing to remain in college for the upcoming year.  Although this year’s NBA prospects may not reveal an exceptionally high amount of potential, there is no way of truly knowing their capabilities until next season

NFL Drafts

The 2013 NFL draft was filled with many unexpected picks, from the New York Giants choosing Syracuse University’s Ryan Nassib as their back-up quarterback to the Seattle Seahawks finally taking Alabama University’s Jesse Williams after he dropped four rounds below his projected rank in the draft.  However, the most surprising decision thus far may be the Miami Dolphin’s choice of trading away their seventh overall pick and a second round pick in pursuance of versatile linebacker Dion Jordan of the University of Oregon.  Less astoundingly, the Philadelphia Eagles selected University of Southern California’s Matt Barkley as the number one pick, which was highly anticipated by both sport experts and fans alike.  As the season approaches, NFL coaches and sport fanatics will gain a better understanding of the new roles these players will fill on their respective teams.
