After a competitive season last year, the Calabasas boys tennis team is off to another promising start, posting a 5-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in Marmonte League play early in the 2025-2026 season. Last year, the Coyotes faced a demanding schedule that tested the team against strong competition. Their non-league slate included matches against Buckley, Cleveland, Campbell Hall, El Camino Real, Notre Dame, and Viewpoint; programs that helped the team evaluate its level early in the season before entering league play.
As usual, Calabasas had competed in the highly competitive Marmonte League, facing Westlake, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Oaks Christian, and Agoura in a 10-match schedule. The league consistently produces some of the strongest tennis programs in that area, making every match a challenge.
This season, the Coyotes appear determined to build on that experience.
“We have a winning record, and the season’s going fine so far. We have gone through a few close matches, but as a team, we have things we can improve on – effort and energy. Over the course of the season, we’re going to get better and start winning those close matches by a bigger margin,” said CHS junior Landon Stolper.
Early matches have already shown the team’s potential. In one of their recent matches against Agoura High School, Calabasas secured a convincing 12- 6 victory, setting the tone for the start of league competition. The team’s preparation has played a major role in their success.
“We have team practice twice a week, and when there’s no team practice, there are games. I try to play at least once or twice on the weekends to maintain my level,” said CHS junior Noah Sperling.
With several matches already completed and league play underway, the Coyotes hope to continue improving as the season progresses. If early results are any indication, Calabasas could once again be a strong contender in the Marmonte League.
