When the lights dim, the music stops, and the giant disco ball retreats back into the dusty warehouse of 70’s paraphernalia, one question lies on everyone’s minds: “What now?” You could go to an after party, which will most likely be broken up by the cops. Or, you could pick from four of these late night ideas to keep the party going past the school gymnasium.
1. Midnight Strike: If you failed to score at Vice, try your luck again at a late-night bowling alley! A combination of good friends, formal wear and tacky shoes is all you need to further enjoy your night out. Bowling alleys like Jewel City Bowl in Glendale, Lucky Strike in Hollywood, or AMF Woodlake Lanes in Woodland Hills all provide a fun bowling venue with lanes open until 2 am.
2. Diner Dash: If french cuisine and disco dining sound far from your definition of appetizing, take a car full of hungry party-goers to several of these favorite late-night diners. Fred 62, located in Los Angeles, is open all night long and offers an array of traditional diner foods with a classic Hollywood ambiance. The 101 Coffee Shop, located in Hollywood, is a traditional American styled diner fully equipped with good food and a 3 a.m. closing time. Or you can stick to the classic and convenient and take a trip to Denny’s and splurge on a pancake platter or their delectable omelets. Who ever said breakfast was just for the a.m.?
3. Flipside Of The Valley/Groovin’ In The City: Head down to the Nuart Theatre on Santa Monica Blvd. after this year’s Le Disco Vice and enjoy a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This dangerously hilarious performance has a wild cast that is never afraid to be bold with character choices and encourage audience participation. Come dressed in your disco-glam attire and dance on the stage with the cast before, during and after the show. When stepping into the world of Rocky Horror, prepare for a night full of friends and laughs, along with the occasional time warp. All teenagers seventeen and up are welcome, tickets are $10.50 per person.
4. Starry Night Adventures: When you are done dancing your feet off at Le Disco Vice, gather around a campfire with close friends and have a laid-back night with lots of laughs, junk food and relaxation. Start a bonfire at the beach, in your backyard or your living room fire place. Make sure to tell stories around the fire as shooting stars pass by overhead. Or, if you are fortunate enough to have any musically talented guests, grab a guitar and sing songs while reminiscing about all of the unforgettable memories that were made at the dance. Keep the energy going with a game of cards, charades or catchphrase. With marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers in hand, let the cozy night begin.
