After hearing the abundance of praise for ABC’s hit drama Scandal, I decided to take an hour out of my day to see for myself what all the hype was about. Sure enough, even after the first 15 minutes, I was enthralled.
Secrets, crime, love and (needless to say) scandal envelop the plotline of each episode. The genius political “fixer” Olivia Pope, brilliantly portrayed by Kerry Washington, leads her team of bright young lawyers to make problems go away…before anyone even knows they exist. With her lofty connections at the White House, this is usually no difficult task for Pope, who always gets her way also due to her persuasiveness and wit. However, Pope’s past forbidden romantic entanglements with a certain powerful politician once again arises, and more crises ensue.
Television networks have had somewhat of a drought regarding decent dramas recently, but this show indeed has all the excitement in which ABC has been lacking. Although I am a newer viewer to Scandal, considering it is in the midst of its second season, this fast-paced political thriller will certainly keep me watching until I am up-to-date with Pope and her captivating entourage.
