From Wednesday through Friday during nutrition, Calabasas High School seniors gathered on the quad for a special “Senior Sign-Out” event to commemorate their final months of high school. Organized as a way to preserve memories before graduation, the activity allowed seniors to record messages and signatures that will later be shown during the graduation ceremony.
Two video cameras were set up at the event, each covered with a clear glass panel. Students wrote messages, signatures, drawings, and inside jokes directly on the glass while standing with friends in front of the camera. The result was a layered video of smiling faces framed by handwritten notes – a visual time capsule of the Class of 2026.
Senior Ellie Tzour, who helped organize the event, was in charge of one of the cameras and guided students through the process.
“We wanted to create something that would capture not just individual memories but the friendships that made high school meaningful,” Tzour said. “Seeing everyone come together, laughing and signing the glass, was really special.”
Students lined up throughout nutrition to participate, many returning multiple times with different friend groups. Some wrote heartfelt thank-you messages to teachers and parents, while others filled the glass with doodles, nicknames, and plans for the future.
“I think it’s something we’ll all look back on years from now,” Tzour added. “You don’t always realize how important these everyday moments are until they’re over.”
Senior participants said the event felt different from other end-of-year traditions because it focused on shared memories rather than formal recognition.
“It was fun, chaotic, and emotional all at once,” said one senior. “You could tell everyone wanted to leave a mark.”
As graduation approaches, students are beginning to reflect on their time at Calabasas and what they will leave behind. Events like the Senior Sign-Out give seniors a chance to pause and appreciate the friendships and experiences that defined their high school years.
The videos created during the event will be shown at graduation, giving the Class of 2026 an opportunity to relive these moments together one last time. Until then, the Senior Sign-Out stands as a meaningful reminder of the connections and memories that make Calabasas High School feel like home.
