Student-athletes honored at CHS spring signing day

At the 2026 Spring Signing Day ceremony, Calabasas High School celebrated student-athletes committing to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Coaches, teammates, friends, and family gathered to recognize the accomplishments that led each athlete to their selected college.

Baseball player Philip Greenfield is committed to playing at Occidental College after spending the last two seasons on Calabasas High School’s varsity baseball team. During the ceremony, his coach, Thomas Cassidy, praised Greenfield’s work ethic and leadership on and off the field.

His relentless work ethic and ability to perform under pressure helped him grow as a player and teammate, according to Coach Cassidy.

Greenfield reflected on the impact baseball has had on his life and thanked the people who supported him throughout his athletic journey.

“This game has shaped almost every part of my life,” Greenfield said. “Baseball taught resilience, how to handle adversity, and how to keep going when things get harder.”

He also reflected on returning to Calabasas for his senior year.

“Coming back to Calabasas to finish my high school career with the people I grew up with was one of the best decisions I’ve made,” Greenfield said.

Water polo player Taylor Credle, going to Chapman University, was recognized for her record-breaking accomplishments in the CHS aquatics program. Her coach described her as one of the most accomplished athletes in school history.

According to her coach, Andrew Maitam, she was a four-time all-league, all-county, and all-CIF athlete who now holds nearly every major scoring record in Calabasas High School water polo history.

Her coach also highlighted her dedication to improving year after year.

“When you thought she was already great, she would train in the offseason even harder just to show you she could get better,” Maitam said.

Credle used her speech to reflect on the role the sport has played in her life.

“Calabasas water polo has really changed the person I am today,” Credle said. “It has really shown how much water polo means to me and how much aquatics can really change a person’s life.”

She also thanked the people who helped her succeed throughout high school.

“I want to thank all of my coaches, teammates, family, and friends for always supporting me,” Credle said.

Soccer player Gabriella Holyfield, who committed to Life Pacific University, was also honored during the ceremony for committing to continue her athletic career at the collegiate level. Her coach, Brian Collins, described her as a hardworking and supportive teammate who embraced new challenges this season.

“She’s got such a great attitude, such a kind heart,” Collins said. “All her teammates absolutely adore her.”

Collins also explained that Gabriella transitioned into a new position this year and adapted quickly.

“She tries something new,” he said. “She plays an outside back now, and it’s an awesome position for her.”

During her speech, Gabriella thanked the people who encouraged her throughout the recruiting process.

“I want to thank my family and my friends because they always believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself,” Holyfield said. “They always pushed me to be the best version that I could be.”

She also expressed excitement for the opportunity ahead.

“I’m so grateful for this opportunity,” Holyfield said. “I’m really excited.”

Soccer player Ryan Ghajar signed with Boston University to continue his athletic career at the collegiate level during the ceremony. In his speech, Ryan reflected on the years of dedication that led him to this moment.

“There were definitely difficult moments, but all the hard work paid off,” Ghajar said.

He also thanked the people who helped him throughout his athletic journey.

“I couldn’t have done any of this without my coaches, teammates, and family supporting me,” Ghajar said.

Liam Guedalia, committed to Loyola Marymount University for soccer, was also recognized during the event for his commitment to continue competing in college athletics. During the ceremony, Liam spoke about what the opportunity meant to him personally.

“This has been a goal of mine for a really long time,” Guedalia said. “It feels amazing to finally accomplish it.”

Guedalia also reflected on the support system behind his success.

“My family has sacrificed so much for me to be able to play the sport I love,” Guedalia said.

Nick Nehme, going to Oberlin College for baseball, thanked his coaches and teammates while reflecting on his high school athletic career.

“My teammates made every season memorable,” Nehme said. “I’m really grateful for everything we accomplished together.”

He also shared his excitement about competing at the next level.

“I’m excited to challenge myself and continue improving in college,” Nick said.

Hadar Moskowitz also celebrated his signing to the University of the Pacific for soccer during the ceremony and reflected on the journey that led to the accomplishment.

“It’s honestly surreal seeing everything pay off,” Moskowitz said.

Moskowitz also encouraged younger athletes to stay committed to their goals.

“If you really love your sport and stay dedicated, the opportunities will come,” Moskowitz said.

Throughout the ceremony, coaches emphasized not only their athletic success but also the determination and character displayed by each student-athlete signee. The Spring Signing Day celebrated years of dedication and marked the beginning of the athletes’ next chapters in college.
