The 2026 Grammy Awards gave students a lot to talk about, especially when it came to outfits, performances, and big wins. Even though not everyone watched the full show live, many students kept up with it through clips and social media the next day.
Fashion was one of the biggest parts of the night for students. Ava Tzour, a senior at Calabasas High School, said Sabrina Carpenter stood out to her.
“I really liked Carpenter’s outfit. It was really pretty and just looked so good on her,” Tzour said.
Another senior from CHS, Peyton Waxberg, liked a different look.
“I thought Olivia Dean looked the best. Her outfit was really classy and simple, and it stood out without being too much,” Waxberg said.
While there were a lot of outfits students liked, not all of them were hits. Some of the red carpet looks definitely got people talking, especially the dramatic ones. Students said that while bold outfits can be fun, sometimes it felt like celebrities were trying too hard to stand out.
“Some people went really bold and it just wasn’t my favorite,” Tzour said. “It felt like they were trying a little too hard.”
Performances were another big part of the night. Tzour said Justin Bieber’s was her favorite.
“It was really simple but still super entertaining, and everyone was actually paying attention,” she said.
Waxberg enjoyed Sabrina Carpenter’s performance and said that it was fun and she looked confident. Both students said they prefer performances that feel more relaxed instead of super dramatic.
One of the biggest moments of the night was Bad Bunny winning Album of the Year. Waxberg said it was a huge moment.
“It felt like people were really paying attention to that win, especially since he was at the Super Bowl halftime right after,” she said.
Students said the timing made it feel even bigger. It seemed like everyone was talking about him that whole week. Bad Bunny headlined Super Bowl LX Halftime Show just one week after his Grammy win, which made him one of the few artists to have both music awards and massive sports performance in the same week.
For many students, it showed how much influence artists can have beyond just music. Being on one of the biggest stages in sports right after winning one of the top music awards made it feel like he had crossed into a whole different level of fame.
Tzour also said the win and Super Bowl performance felt meaningful.
“You could tell it meant a lot,” she said. “It was really cool to see.”
Both students agreed with the Best New Artist choice. Waxberg said she was happy Olivia Dean won, even though there were other artists she liked.
“I was torn between Olivia Dean, Alex Warren, and Sombr, but I was happy Olivia Dean won,” Waxberg said.
Like most award shows, there were some slower parts. Both students mentioned that some speeches went on too long, but they said it was kind of expected.
The days following the Grammys, many people were still talking about it online. Tzour said she saw a lot of clips on TikTok, mostly about outfits and performances.
Even though not everyone may care about every award, both students said the Grammys do still matter.
“I think people care more about the moments than the actual awards,” Tzour said.
Overall, the 2026 Grammys gave students plenty to talk about and showed that even if people don’t watch the whole show, the highlights still make an impact.
