As summer 2026 starts, new fashion trends are already emerging, especially on social media. Every year styles change, but this summer blends a mix of throwback looks and simple, effortless outfits. Instead of overcomplicating things, people are leaning towards pieces that are easy to wear, but still make a statement. A lot of these trends are inspired by past styles, but with a more modern and relaxed feel.

One of the biggest trends this summer is turquoise blue. It is everywhere from bikinis and tank tops to jewelry and nails. The color gives off a bright, beachy vibe and stands out more compared to the neutral tones that have been popular in the past. It’s become a go-to color because it instantly makes an outfit feel more summery and fun.

“I’ve literally been seeing turquoise everywhere, especially on things like tank tops and nails,” said CHS senior Ava Tzour. “It just makes everything feel so summery and fun.

Another returning trend is 2016 style-fashion. Things like ripped denim shorts and off-the-shoulder tops are showing up again. A lot of people like this trend because it is simple but still fashionable, and it brings back styles that make people nostalgic.

“It’s funny seeing things from when we were in elementary school come back,” Tzour said.

The idea of bringing back older trends reflects how fashion constantly repeats itself. As many fashion experts have pointed out, trends often cycle every few years, with new generations putting their own spin on the past.

Flip-flops are making a comeback this summer. While they have always been a summer staple, they have been perceived as basic or not that stylish, but now people are making them a statement piece. People are wearing them with everything because they are comfortable, and an easy way to make an outfit more fun.

“I feel like outfits this summer are going to be really effortless,” said CHS senior Peyton Waxberg. “Like you can just throw on a pair of flip flops and a simple outfit and it will look good.”

Waxberg also mentioned how comfort is a big reason why this trend is coming back.

“People like to wear heels, but no one wants to wear uncomfortable shoes all the time,” she said. “Flip flops are just easier and go with everything.”

Fringe is another trend that is starting to show up more this summer. Whether it is on bags, skirts, or tops, it adds movement and makes outfits look more unique. It’s especially popular for beach days or summer events where people want something a little different.

“I don’t see a ton of people wearing fringe, but when they do, it definitely stands out,” Waxberg said. “I have seen girls wear it at Coachella and it looks so good.”

Overall, this summer is all about keeping things simple while still having fun with fashion. From bright turquoise pieces to throwback 2016 styles, the trends are easy to wear and adaptable to different personal styles. Instead of trying too hard, people are focusing on what feels good and represents them, which is what makes this summer’s fashion stand out.
