The weeks leading up to Vice can be filled with frantic trips to the mall, frenzied ransackings of friends’ closets and worries about winning a ‘who wore it best’ contest if someone else happens to arrive wearing the same outfit. All of these problems can be avoided if you follow these six simple steps that will ensure the “grooviest” ensemble fit for a night under the Parisian stars.

The Fun, Flirty and French Girl

Step One: The shape of the dress is the foundation for your look and therefore, should be given a great deal of thought. Look for a-line dresses, as they are flattering for all body types. Try on dresses with synched waistlines and flowy skirts to flaunt your best features and show off the French design.
Step Two: In your search for dress perfection, the right colored dress is essential. To ensure your dress is worthy of the Paris runways, stick to light hues of blues, pinks and purples, with intricate patterns or monochromatic dresses with dainty sashes.

Step Three: In order to achieve a romantic look that is both sweet and awe-inspiring, make sure you have the perfect mix of ruffles and lace. Detailing is the perfect way to make an average dress stand out on the dance floor -try including silk bows and ornate embroidery to make your dress one-of-a-kind.

Step Four: Match your dress with a classic pair of pumps that compliment the delicate details of your dress. Finish the look with a feminine array of accessories- anything from frilly headbands and appealing barrettes to vintage French inspired rings and necklaces.

Step Five: For a more chic style, accent your gown with vivid bows or barrettes. These adorable additions will emphasize your inner French romantic. Stun your piers with elegant pieces that bring out the one-of-a-kind beauty of a Paris Princess.

Step Six: To emulate the effortless chic look of a French heiress, just remember the three R’s: ravishing, romantic and refined. Since make-up and hair can make or break your outfit, make sure your look is sophisticated, yet natural.

The Funky Modern Disco Girl

Step One: In contrast to the more conservative styles of the French, your disco inspired dress should be fun and form-fitting. Look for bandage dresses that will accentuate your curves and show off your figure. Make sure your dress has some daring cutouts or a plunging back to add a modern spin on classic disco apparel.

Step Two: Bright colors and funky patterns will bring back the disco fever of the 70s. Zig-zags, swirls and peace signs mixed on a background of bold metallic fabric will guarantee that you will be the life of the party.

Step Three: Nothing screams disco better than sequins! No amount of detailing is too much for a disco outfit. Sequins add an extra flare to any article of clothing, from a flirty mini to a dazzling top. This extra pop of sparkle will allow you to shine on the dance floor and will set your dress apart from the rest.

Step Four: To top off your funky outfit, select a groovy pair of platform heels to dance the night away. Don’t be afraid to go for shoes that seem ‘bulky’ because often times this style can be deceiving. Choosing the perfect shoe has the potential to make a big statement and will tie your whole outfit together. For the final touch of pizzazz, accessorize your look with a bold headband, sequenced earrings or metallic rings and necklaces.

Step Five: After selecting the ideal dress, top your look off with layers of sparkly beaded necklaces and brilliant gem encrusted cuffs. Complete your groovy appearance with clunky gold rings and thick, primary-colored headbands. This signature look will be sure to turn heads while on the dance floor under the disco ball.

Step Six: When it comes to hair and makeup at the disco, bigger is always better. Hair should be curled or teased, and makeup should be daringly dramatic. For a more modern disco look, hair can be slicked back into a high ponytail and glittered eye shadow can be applied to give your eyes a twinkling appearance. While it may seem that too much makeup is unflattering, a striking smoky eye and vivid eyeliner will create a unique retro
look that will make you the object of both envy and affection all night long.
