A relief from the average Mexican restuarant

A relief from the average Mexican restuarant

I can undeniably say that I love Mexican food, but I often find myself tired of the usual El Torito and Chipotle.  For those of you who feel the same way and want to try something different, Sabor, Casa Escobar, and Sol y Luna, are three unexpected Mexican treasures in the area, that will surely satisfy your craving for great Mexican food.

One might call Sabor “the romance of Mexican cuisine.”  Sabor combines the rich Mexican tradition with the flare of modern Mexico.  To take advantage of the best local and seasonal findings, the restaurant’s specials are constantly changing.  The exceptional menu, which features a plethora of delicious Mexican Dishes, will always give you a chance to try something new.  Although the restaurant is located in Thousand Oaks, it is worth the drive.Inspired by Colonial villages throughout Mexico, the interior designers wanted to reinvent the way people experience Mexican dining.  The owners even went as far as to order furniture directly from Guadalajara to put the finishing touch on the atmosphere. Sabor has never gotten any bad reviews; people can only talk about mouthwatering dishes that I have yet to taste for myself.

Sol y Luna, Mexican for “The Sun and Moon,” is a popular local restaurant which was established in 2004 by Alejandro and Norma Morales.  Located at 19601Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana, Sol y Luna is the go-to Mexican Restaurant for its fun atmosphere and delectable food.  The friendly staff, high quality ingredients and an overall wonderful dining experience are top priorities at the restaurant.  At Sol y Luna you can pretty much get any Mexican dish possible, just a whole lot better.  Known by many as one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area, options range from tamales to tacos and everything in between. Take the short drive down Ventura Boulevard and learn for yourself why Sol y Luna is loved by anyone who knows a good taco.

What makes Casa Escobar so special is the family heritage that is embedded into every bite of the rich Mexican food.  Juan and Rosa Escobar opened the restaurant in 1946, with the goal of bringing their love of Mexican Food to the valley.  The original owners passed down their love for authentic Mexican fare to their children, who in turn passed it down to their daughter and current co-owner, Jessica Escobar. Still using her great grandparent’s original recipes, Casa Escobar‘s most popular dishes are their Chicken Mole Enchiladas, Arroz con Mariscos, and signature tacos.  Upon visiting Casa Escobar for the first time, I opted to try their signature shrimp tacos, and had never tasted such a delicious Mexican meal.  The true Latin culture was visible through the vibrantly decorated interior and the fun Mexican ambiance which only added to the delicious authenticity of their cuisine.  Bottom line, you would be “loco” not to try it!
