We are all waiting for that day when finding the answer to a homework problem can be as simple as clicking a mouse. Luckily the wait is finally over.
Wolfram|Alpha, which was launched in 2009, is the child of Mr. Stephen Wolfram, a key developer of the 1988 Mathematica program and A New Kind of Science (2002).
When I heard that Wolfram|Alpha was a free Computational Knowledge Engine I had no idea what it could do. But, I soon learned that it is a search engine that combines the world’s facts, equations, measurements, historical events, general trends and calculations into a massive knowledge database.
I have used Wolfram|Alpha numerous times to help me with everything from any type of math problem imaginable (even the complex problems with sins and logs) to science and history. But this web app also offers help in other subjects such as life science, engineering, health and medicine, geography, music and finance.
Wolfram|Alpha is also available on the iPhone/iPad and Android Markets at a respectable $2.99. Not to mention that it is acessible by any mobile device via it’s mobile interface for free.
My friends can now envy me for having the one source that has the answer to everything (that is until you use it too!)
