Psy, a South Korean singer, songwriter and rapper, is busy becoming the biggest artist in the history of pop culture as he spreads his “Gangnam Style” to America. Psy’s humorous videos and performances have sparked some conflict back in South Korea, but in other regions, including America, Psy’s style of music resonates well with fans. Psy, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, says he is on a mission to prove that good-looking and talented singers are not the only ones who can become famous. Psy was the first K-pop artist to break down this stereotype by just being ordinary looking. Psy was unknown until his hit “Gangnam Style” was realeased and ranked number one on YouTube’s ‘Most Viewed Videos’ monthly chart, gaining over 250 million views. Psy’s goofy viral music video has been spreading like wildfire as millions of viewers find themselves replicating his silly dance moves. When combined, Psy’s classy dress suits and cheesy dance moves create a spectacle never seen before. Due to his growing popularity, Psy even got the chance to perform “Gangnam Style” during the 2012 Video Music Awards and on Saturday Night Live . One should not be too surprised to see a few of his or her peers performing the “Gangnam Style” in the near future.
